Giving Back

Who They Are

The American Red Cross responds immediately to more than 70,000 disasters annually, focusing on meeting people's immediate emergency disaster-caused needs with shelter, food, and health and mental health services. The core of Red Cross disaster relief is the assistance given to individuals and families affected by disaster to enable them to resume their normal daily activities independently.

Although the American Red Cross is not a government agency, its authority to provide disaster relief was formalized when, in 1905, the Red Cross was chartered by Congress to "carry on a system of national and international relief in time of peace and apply the same in mitigating the sufferings caused by pestilence, famine, fire, floods, and other great national calamities, and to devise and carry on measures for preventing the same."

What We Do

WAC Lighting works very hard as an active donor and a volunteer to help support The American Red Cross, including providing relief for families impacted by 9-11, the Tsunami, the China and Taiwan earthquakes and Hurricane Katrina. WAC Lighting is proud to have raised $270,000 in only a two week time frame for the victims of the China earthquake.

What You Can Do

The American Red Cross helps people in need, free of charge, every single day! Your contribution helps families through some of the most difficult times of their lives. The Red Cross relies on the generosity of those who donate their time and money. You can help with generous donations of money, time and supplies.

Who They Are

Gift of Life International, Inc is a non-profit organization whose mission is to save as many children’s lives as possible by providing life saving open heart surgery to children from infancy to 18 years of age with congenital heart defects. Children for whom we are the last hope.

What We Do

WAC Lighting is an active donor to this organization. Our co-principal and co-founder Tai Wang has been very supportive of Gift of Life. She has focused on bringing indigent Chinese children, who are born with heart defects, to the U.S. and helping them through these serious health crises. Tai was directly involved in transporting the children from their homes to their hospital beds, and providing around-the-clock, hands-on support during their hospital stay, until their safe return home.

What You Can Do

Your donation to Gift of Life will defray the cost of medical expenses surrounding the surgery. While our medical professionals donate their time and skills and the hospitals and medical centers greatly reduce their costs, money is still needed for medical supplies, recovery, and travel.

Who They Are

The New York Asian Women's Center (NYAWC) is a non-profit organization that helps hundreds of women overcome violence and govern their own lives, free of abuse. Through progressive programs including a 24-hour multilingual hotline, counseling, advocacy, education, emergency shelters, children's programs, and community outreach, the Center changes the lives of women and children who are victims of violence or human trafficking. By raising public awareness about difficult subjects as domestic violence and human trafficking to a heightened level, the Center can create an agenda for social change.

What We Do

WAC Lighting actively participates in this organization through donations, volunteerism, and contribution of products to shelter quality of life projects. Whether a client needs shoes, or the Center needs volunteers, or the shelters need lighting, the folks at WAC Lighting have always responded. VP General Manager, Shelley Wang, has been an active volunteer with the organization serving their clients through support groups, emergency hotline support, shelter improvement, community outreach, and committee work.

What You Can Do

Not forgetting its grassroots beginnings 26 years ago, the NYAWC offers a number of ways you can help. Volunteers are always needed for community outreach and support activities. Or you might consider opening your home as a Domestic Violence Safe Home, a shelter alternative for women and children, when beds are full. Given the grave need for security, volunteers undergo intensive training on sensitivity, confidentiality, and handling emergency situations. Apart from a donation of time, your monetary donation to the Center will go towards activities that make sure we reach all those in need. Please visit the website below to find out more.
